INITIAL, PERIODIC, AND TERMINATION EVALUATIONS

Monitoring the health of workers is an important element of occupational health care.  COMP can assist employers in designing and implementing health surveillance programs that are tailored to their workforce.  The initial evaluation (baseline) allows workers with pre-existing problems to be identified so that appropriate steps can be taken to protect the employee during his employment.  The periodic evaluation provides an opportunity to detect changes in the health status of an employee so that corrective action can be taken as necessary.  The termination (end of employment) evaluation provides a final assessment of the employee's health status that can be compared to the initial evaluation.  Initial, periodic, and termination evaluations can also be structured to comply with regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, etc.) for workers who are potentially exposed to hazards such as solvents, pesticides, heavy metals, asbestos, and noise.
